Cardi B Releases Debut Album, “Invasion of Privacy”

Cardi B first released her breakout single, “Bodak Yellow,” almost a year ago on June 16, 2017. The song quickly rose to the top of the charts and stayed there for several weeks. Many people felt as though Cardi B was just a one hit wonder and had no real talent to back up her fame. They were just counting down the days until she faded into the background. Much to their dismay, those were precisely the people that Cardi B came after. Cardi B used her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” to demonstrate that she is way more than a pretty face. She showed her versatility and range through an assortment of songs. She not only brought the same energy that made “Bodak Yellow” so famous, but also opened up about personal problems. The title of the album depicts the journey she takes fans on as they listen and invade her privacy.
Cardi B, born as Belcalis Almanzar, lived a tough life before getting her big break. In her teenage years, she joined a gang. She then dropped out of school and got into a string of abusive relationships. To get away from that life, Cardi B began stripping and used the money she earned to send herself back to school. However, after dropping out again, she turned to social media in order to gain some spotlight.
For many people, Cardi B represents an untraditional, realistic, rags-to-riches story. The album does a very good job of telling her whole story. Cardi B has never been the kind of person to hide what she is thinking and the album takes on that very same personality. She is very blunt in getting her point across, but does it in a very unconventional way. “Invasion of Privacy” is a great album that perfectly captures the genius mind of Cardi B.
