Mr. Mallon to Appear on The Bachelorette
by Caroline Merck
Northside has been buzzing about the upsetting and emotional season finale of “The Bachelor” this winter with the chaos between Arie Luyendyk Jr, 36 years old, Becca K., 27, and Lauren B., 25. Despite the stress the season caused its dedicated viewers, Northsiders are in for a special treat in Becca’s season of the Bachelorette. NCP’s very own Mr. Jeffrey Mallon, Social Science department, will be appearing in Becca K.’s season with 29 other men in hopes of finding true love.
Mallon, a Chicagoland native, has a lot to offer to Becca. In addition to teaching AP Human Geography and Honors World Studies here at Northside, Mallon attended West Virginia University where he majored in History and Business Administration. He also attended Northern Illinois University, where he obtained his teaching certification. Recently, he graduated with a Master's degree in Educational Technology. Prior to teaching at Northside, he taught at Libertyville High School, Belvidere North High School, and Austin Business and Entrepreneurship Academy. This long and impressive resume is just one aspect of Mallon’s life.
Becca on the other hand is a publicist from Prior Lake, MN. She is coming off of a devastating heartbreak where Arie actually proposed to her, before breaking it off just two weeks into their engagement in order to propose to the other Bachelor contestant, Lauren B. Arie came to Lauren in the second half of the finale to apologize and then proposed on the live portion with Chris Harrison. After all this emotion, Becca is “Ready to do the damn thing!”
Mallon is excited to meet Becca in person and get to know the real side of her that the TV audience does not get to see. Aside from teaching, Mr. Mallon also enjoys playing softball. He spends most of his summer nights playing softball throughout the Chicagoland area and most weekends traveling out of state for tournaments. He hopes that Becca can take into consideration his busy schedule and still admire him for who he is.
Several Northsiders are already aware of the future appearance. Kimberly Grabiec, Adv. 902, is one of the most excited. She said, “I am looking forward to seeing a bachelor contestant that I know and can root for this season.” Other Northsiders are looking forward to watching their first season of the Bachelor. “I have never seen a minute of ‘The Bachelor’ before, but now that Mr. Mallon will be on the show, I think that it will be fun to watch and keep up with the new shows every week,” said Kathryn Merck Adv. 800.
Some Northside students have viewing parties on a weekly basis and make fantasy brackets similar to March Madness where the Bachelor Nation fans pick their favorites to continue their journey. Northsiders have already made plans to see Mr. Mallon go all the way and get the final rose this season.
Mallon is hopeful of finding his true love through “The Bachelor.” He hopes that the administration will understand his leave of absence and support him on this new journey in his life.
